Surf trips can be difficult sometimes. Months and months of planning and sleepless nights filled with excitement are often marred by a terrible forecast. There’s almost nothing worse than waiting for a much needed surf trip, only to watch the waves deteriorate as you’re packing your bags. The Peak, as it is known, sits right in front of the resort. And when you’re in a need of a break, the resort has everything from a bar to a tree house, and every thing in between. Mini golf, a full games room, and arguably the best food on the island. Aura is run by surfers, which means they know exactly what surfers need: good waves, good food, and good times. They’ve got all that in spades.

The conditions shown here are pretty much the norm all year around, thanks to a hidden trench that ramps up swell events to world-class levels and the longest fetch in the entire Sumatran archipelago.
