The Inertia

Remember back in the olden days when people surfed exclusively in the ocean? Ah, those quaint times when buggies were drawn by horses and butter was churned by hand. Now, however, people are surfing everywhere. Rivers, oceans, pools, and of course, lakes. Freshwater. The trailer for Bloom Lagoon deals with something bleak: the vast amount of garbage flowing into our dwindling supply of freshwater.

“In the film,” reads the description, “the world’s freshwater supply has become too toxic to support mass human life. A lone survivor is mystically transported back in time to the present day, where he and his surf pals were still able to enjoy the greatness of the lakes before the toxifying effects of agricultural and industrial pollution reached a tipping point.”

If that sounds like a plotline you might like, here’s a similar story called This Is the Dystopian Future of Surf.
