The Inertia

Anywhere you go there’s an undeniable sizzle of stoke floating in the air when summer heats up.  The momentum is especially high at Slyde Handboards, a San Clemente-based bodysurf startup, who will be hosting the first competition of its kind on the mainland – a contest devoted exclusively to emerging water sport of handboarding.

“California is home to some amazing bodysurfing competition,” says Slyde Founder Steve Watts. “Most are heavily focused on bodysurfing with an occasional handboarding heat.  We’ve heard so much positive feedback about hosting a handboarding contest it just felt like it was time to make one a reality.”

Fun Facts that will make this competition a summer must.

1. All Contest Proceeds Go To A Walk on Water- Surf Therapy Program for children with special needs.

2. North Beach, San Clemente a classic Southern California Beach, break is reserved just for Slyde’s handboarding competition.

3. FUN! This is more fun than competition. Slyde’s even added an Inflatable floatie heat to the contest.

Note: Limited spots are available HERE. The competition will take place on Saturday, June 24, 2017, from 8am-5pm on Slyde’s home turf of San Clemente, California.
