The Inertia

As we get closer to the end of the 2022 season, each day of each stop holds more weight. Finals day is getting closer and the surfers have their heads down, focused on making the final five. Day two of the Rio Pro was jam-packed with action and upsets.

Highlights from day two at Rio include a standout performance by rookie Gabriela Bryan whose prowess on the waves drew attention from the crowd. With his consistent yet powerful surfing, young Callum Robson took out 3x world champ Gabriel Medina. After a rocky start, Carissa Moore put on a show against Caroline Marks, earning herself a spot in the finals. Miguel Tudela pulled off a wildcard victory with some huge airs. Wildcard Mateus Herdy also put on a giant air show to take out world number five, Kanoa Igarashi.

With the incredible surfing we’ve seen at the Rio Pro so far and the crowd’s energy, finals day is sure to be a spectacle. Stay tuned for all of the action from the Rio Pro.
