When conditions at Uluwatu line up just right, it looks like a dream wave. Big, clean, open faces, a barreling inside section… oh, it seems nice, doesn’t it? But, much like any other wave that’s big, clean, open-faced, and with a barreling inside section, Uluwatu will serve your ass to you on a silver platter.
Such was the case on May 18. The swell began to build in the morning, and even though it wasn’t huge, it was just big enough to tickle the Bombie and the outside corner. Most of the action went down a little way inside at the main peak, but as the day went on, it was just a matter of time before the (tiny) crowd got caught inside by a bigger set. “Apart from mandatory sets on the head,” reads the description on the Surfers of Bali YouTube page, “there were some great waves and a little more room in the lineup than normal.”
