The Inertia

Clay Marzo’s ratio of talent to clips posted might make him the least seen elite surfer on the planet. So when Clay drops new footage, even if it’s a short two-minute edit, it always deserves a slice of your day.

In Marzo’s latest video titled, “Doin my thang” he performs some classic surfing that can be described as nothing other than…Marzo-esque. While surfing a warm-water left presumably at home in Maui, he does layback contortions that no human body should be able to ride out of, and stylish barrel stalls to extend his time in the tube.

His surfing has the rare power to unite a social media comment section.

“Some of the best laybacks I’ve ever seen,” said one commenter.

“To be able to throw those laybacks with just his tippy toes hanging on, making them consistently, is amazing,” said another. “Plus the barrel steeze. He never gets mentioned when he’s easily one of the best surfers on this planet.”

“Claybacks are back and they never get old,” another chimed in.

Maybe if everyone watched Clay Marzo surfing we’d be one step closer to world peace. At the very least, it’ll make us all want to paddle out. And agreeing on things is a rare phenomenon these days.
