Craig Anderson has done a lot for surfing. He’s one of those rare freesurfers who is likely far more valuable to a sponsor because he’s a freesurfer; a guy with a style all his own; a guy who moves through life with the same casual confidence that he has when he moves over a wave. He’s got a new film out called Samudra Spirit Glitters, and it is necessary viewing.
Life looks quite a bit different for Anderson than it did just a few years ago. Between his impact with a Haydenshapes surfboard under feet and being Quik’s top guy, he racked up a few injuries, partnered with Dane Reynolds to create Former, and continued to stun anyone watching with his surfing.
The film is undeniably Craig Anderson. He traveled to Indonesia with Dave Fox, who shot and directed the film. Anderson isn’t a loud guy, but his surfing screams. It’s an artful edit that has a focus on more than riding waves.
