Just yesterday, we published a short piece about Filipe’s Toledos’s aerial prowess. “He routinely does things on a surfboard that should be nearly impossible,” we wrote. “His ability to find tiny sections that no one else sees and hit them just perfectly is one of the most incredible things to watch.”

And in the second heat of round four at the Quik Pro France, Toledo basically proved that he is better than anyone else in the world at aerials. After a lofty punt by the current number one, John John Florence, the announcers went wild and the judges awarded him a 9.40. Stuart Kennedy was in a combo situation while Toledo needed a 9.97–which, for most surfers, would be a near-impossibility given the conditions. Toledo, though, calmly stroked into a left-hander, gave a few casual pumps, and proceeded to boost on of the loftiest airs anyone’s seen in a long, long time. The judges gave him a perfect 10 and the heat was his for the taking. Here’s the whole heat, if you want to compare airs.
