The Inertia

Filipe Toledo came to the North Shore this winter with an outside shot at his first World Title. Instead, fellow countryman Gabriel Medina took home his second tour championship. Toledo bowed out to Kelly Slater in Round 3 of the 2018 Billabong Pipe Masters, collecting a 13th place finish and third overall on the season. There’s always next year, right? From the looks of Toledo’s new edit, he still made the most his time in Hawaii.

Of course, the rub on Filipe is that he’s just not a heavy surf guy, just some flashy style in waves of no consequence. Or maybe he’s just so exceptional in unimpressive surf that he doesn’t get the credit he deserves outside of it. Either way, it appears Filipe put in some time on the North Shore this winter in waves of all shapes and sizes. And guess what, he even throws in a quick highlight from Waimea.

Perhaps a nod to the haters?
