The Inertia

Aren’t you sick and tired of the same old Instagram surf clip? Oh look, there’s another 15-second mash-up of air reverses. It’s the day and age of flash-in-the-pan, here-today-gone-tomorrow surf clips. Amazing feats are forgotten nearly as soon as they’re seen, only to be replaced by another just-as-amazing feat that is forgotten just as quickly. There is one benefit of that modern form of media consumption, however: it gives the viewer a newfound appreciation for the longer form that used to be the norm.

Harry Bryant’s newest edit is only 15-minutes long—but in today’s world, that’s a feature-length film. And what a film it is! Harry Bryant, the man who gets his hair cut by beavers, just released his newest moving picture, entitled ORB, and it has… well, just about everything. Heavy barrels, giant airs, and more power surfing than you can shake a stick at. It has behind-the-scenes and day-to-days. It shows Harry Bryant as a person and a surfer. It is how surf films should be made, and we’re so glad he made it.
