Pipeline isn’t exactly a secret spot. It’s one of those waves that, when the waves are on, is going to be crowded, especially in December. That’s because the surf world converges on it in December for the World Surf League’s events. All the best surfers on the planet are there and they’re all looking for their slice of the pie. Right now, though, things are a little different than most people expected. Honolua Bay canceled after a shark attack. Pipe Masters on hiatus after positive COVID-19 tests. It’s been a rough start, to say the least, but the waves didn’t get the memo. Above, watch the mayhem at the crown jewel in the seven-mile crown, with John John Florence, Julian Wilson, Jamie O’Brien, Ezekiel Lau, Italo Ferreira, Mark Healey, Flynn Novak, Gabriel Medina, Jack Freestone, Strider Wasilewski, and many many more.
