The Inertia

Jet Skis are fun little things to zoom around on. But even more importantly, they’re extraordinarily useful machines, especially if you’re a person who spends your time chasing waves way off the beaten path or shooting fish off some far-flung reef. A person like Mark Healey.

Healey uses PWCs pretty often in his day-to-day life. He rides big waves, yes, but he’s also a champion spearfisherman and all-around guy who explores the ocean. And when you’re an all-around guy who explores the ocean, a Jet Ski is a lot more than just “a fun little thing to zoom around on.” It’s a tool, and a very useful one at that.

In the video above, Healey breaks down exactly how to set up a PWC for big wave surfing. It’s not the first time he’s done an episode of Strike Missions that focusses on setting up a ski — the first one ever, in fact, was this one — but this one in particular is a little more in-depth when you’re using a ski for, as Healey says, “actual hardcore use.”
