The search for perfect waves on the East Coast can be pretty all-consuming. When there’s a storm on the horizon, especially a powerful storm such as Hurricane Henri, everyone, not just surfers, takes notice. There’s the hype, the anticipation, the dreams of howling offshores, pumping swell and perfect barrels, but when you wake up the morning of, firing or not, it’s up to you to make the most of the surf that you’ve got.
Ben Gravy knows all about the highs and lows of storm chasing, and most importantly knows that no matter the conditions, you’ve got to bring the stoke. “That’s a bold claim,” Ben laughs when a local grom tells him “It’s firing!” But firing or not, the whole Ben Gravy squad had plenty of fun in the waves that Hurricane Henri had to offer. Even Blair Conklin showed up to get in on the action.
