There are a million waves in Indonesia, but this one is really GOOD. Photo: YouTube//Screenshot
Indonesia is full of amazing waves. Famous ones like Uluwatu, Lance’s Right, Bingin, G-Land, and Padang Padang. But there are plenty of not-so famous waves that often fly under the radar. The glaring lights of the famous waves overshadow them, but some of those not-so-famous waves are pretty incredible. Take, for example, this rifling right-hander in East Indonesia.
“Indonesia, known among surfers as Indo, is truly every wave rider’s paradise,” reads a post from Jamie O’Brien’s website. “As the world’s largest archipelagic state, there are 17,508 islands and approximately 54,716 kilometers of coastline. This means lots of beaches and lots of waves. The most common surf locations in Indonesia are Bali, Sumatra, Java, and the Mentawai Islands, however, the wave exploring possibilities are endless.”
The video you see here was shot back in November on the last proper swell Indo saw. But for those in the sparse lineup on that day, it’ll be stuck in the memory banks for a long, long time. I’m not going to spill the beans, but if you know, you know.
