A fragment of an Iranian missile blasted a hole in the pool lining of Israel’s first surf park in Tel Aviv. Images emerged of a gash in the pool at Surf Park TLV on March 17, which reports say came from a “cluster-type missile” on Tuesday afternoon.
Representatives of the wave pool said that it was debris from an intercepted missile that fell in the pool, not a direct strike. No one was injured at the facility.
Surfers posted videos preparing for their session when missile sirens sounded, and they safely retreated to a shelter.

A message on the pool’s booking system reads, “Due to a malfunction, the pool is closed today and will open tomorrow (Saturday) morning.” A note on their Facebook page says that waves will start pumping again at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Wave settings are available, including rights and lefts with intermediate, pro, turns, barrels, beginner, and ocean settings.
The pool opened in April of 2025, using technology from the Spanish company Wavegarden. The lagoon measures 160 meters by 160 meters, and can create 700 waves per hour across 25 different wave settings. The pool is accompanied by a restaurant, event space, surf academy, and surf shop.
