The Inertia

Chris Coté’s new Red Bull series 21 Hours is an instant classic. In its first episode, the series featured Coté following Ian Crane around his native San Clemente in a behind-the-scenes style reminiscent of Red Bull’s other series, 21 Days. The difference being 21 Days takes a very serious look at each subject’s training regimen, their diet, and other preparations in the lead up to a Championship Tour event. 21 Hours does the same, sort of, but totally takes the piss out of the genre. We’re fans.

This episode features Jack Freestone who, despite doing his best to act impatient and annoyed with Coté and his cameraman, just further endears himself as a stand-up, genuinely nice guy who has difficulty feigning irritability.

Here, Freestone attempts to settle the full rotation/540 debate using a baguette. Coté, as we know, is in the 540 camp with fellow Encinitas resident Todd Richards. Jack is not. Coté agrees to disagree. “I don’t wanna argue with you on our video,” he says.
