So by ‘extended cut,’ we’re thinking that means a longer, more reality television-like version. And that’s what it looks like as JJF and his film team released a longer version of the outer reef session on Oahu this week that was so thoroughly covered last winter. The cut of course comes from their recent film, Maps of Home. The main difference between reality television and JJF’s extended versions, though, is the cinematic quality. Eric Knutson went above and beyond for Maps and we get to see conversations leading up to the now-iconic session. Not to mention more state-of-the-art big wave riding. If some of these clips didn’t make the final version of the movie, it simply shows how many amazing shots the crew captured.
