It doesn’t break often, but when it does, it does THIS. Photo: YouTube//Screenshot
One of the greatest things you see in a pro surfer’s eyes is a frantic froth. They would be excused for not being overly excited about surfing because they surf constantly, but Jordy Smith turned into a grom when he pulled up to a novelty wave on the Eastern Cape of South Africa.
He’s surfed a million good waves in a million good sessions in a million places around the globe, but South Africa is chock full of waves that’ll get anyone’s heart beating, from the worst surfer to the best.
The wave you see here is called Six Pillars (guess why), and when it’s on, it’s a wild ride. Jordy Smith, of course, makes it look far easier than it really is, but in the process of doing so, he caught a pile of insanely fun-looking waves.
Located in Port Elizabeth, it’s also called Slipway. If a big south or southwest shows its teeth, there’s a chance it’ll break, but it’s a fickle place. With a wave like this, who needs wave pools?
