Who can’t relate to a morning like this? You (Kalani Robb) run into an old friend who’s been out of town for a bit (Cheyne Magnusson)…and it’s ON.
Cheyne hasn’t been spending much time around the ocean lately, working for Waco’s BSR Surf Resort and getting wave pool sessions whenever his heart desires instead. Meanwhile, Kalani is fresh off the high of HBO’s Momentum Generation documentary premiere…and he seems to be feeling it. And rightfully so; the guy’s still got it.
The friendly surf off is a rite of passage for every one of us. Sometimes it fuels two surfers to push things a little harder and a little higher than they would during a solo session, a la Andy and Bruce. But most of the time two friends facing off in an imaginary heat scenario just turns into completely arbitrary wave scores and better vibes in the line up–and a fair amount of entertaining wipeouts.
