Kelly Slater is good at surfing. He’s good at surfing on just about any kind of surfboard. He is, like most good surfers, very interested in surfboard design, fin set ups, surfboard construction, and all that other stuff that goes into making the hunk of foam under your feet work as well as it can. We don’t often see Kelly Slater on twin fins, though, and he does, as you expected, surf them very well.
He did have a hand in designing the Great White Twin, which is likely the surfboard he’s riding in this session. The video you see here was shot at Duranbah, a wave that suits Kelly Slater’s surfing well (honestly, that’s pretty much every wave), especially when he’s on a twin fin. The board looks a little bit slippery with a whole lot of speed in it, and Slater is pushing it to its limits. As he should be.
