Kelly Slater hasn’t lived a so-called “normal” life. He’s an 11-time world champ, Baywatch heartthrob, wave-making juggernaut. He’s one of the few surfers who has reached mainstream fame. He’s been living an abnormal life for a long, long time — flying all over the planet, chasing the best waves on Earth, etc — and he’s got a lot of good stories.
That’s why he was invited to talk story with Tammy Moniz for Outrigger Waikiki’s Surfers in Residence. The idea behind it is that a pro surfer and/or their families will sit down with guests, chat about this and that, then head out for a surf.
The whole thing is an hour long, winding tale from Slater. It’s filled with bits of knowledge gleaned from his weird life, stories from the road, and more.
