Anyone who surfs regularly should shape a few surfboards over the course of their life. Sure, it might not work as well as you’d like, but you MADE it, and that’s a lot more rewarding than buying one that does. And, with a little patience, you’ll figure it out. Koz McRae has it figured out.
Koz is a Santa Barbara guy, through and through. “The ocean and surfboards have always been a part of my life,” he wrote on his website. “A couple years back, I picked up a Clark foam planer and I can’t seem to put it down. I’m not trying to reinvent the wheel, I’m just hand shaping super fun, well made surfboards and trying not to take myself too seriously.”
In the video above, he creates a fun little 5’6 quad fish, then sends it off to Paul Eigenhuis at Ahoi! Surfcrafts in Ventura. Jesse Carmody followed them around with a camera for the duration of the creation, and came up with this little clip while they came up with the Space Frog.
