The Inertia

In the annals of surfboard design history, arguably the most overshadowed leap forward was Duncan and Malcolm Campbell’s introduction of the bonzer in 1972. The story is well-known at this point. Some years since the introduction of the bonzer, Simon Anderson’s thruster concept quickly became the default design and the bonzer languished for decades in obscurity. In the last decade or so, alternative board enthusiasts, like Kyle Kennelly here, are rediscovering in earnest just how fun the Campbell Bros. quirky design is in all manner of waves. Think flow of a single fin, with the drive of a traditional three-fin setup and you start to get the picture.
