Where were you August 27th, 2014? If you live in California the answer to that question probably comes from a laundry list of surf spots that will never look quite as amazing as they did that amazing day. A year ago today was the day we’ll forever know as Big Wednesday. Laird shot the pier at Malibu. Not to be outdone by Allen Sarlo. Newport Point looked like Pipe. Rob Machado said that himself. The Wedge was The Wedge, only with a little more umph to it. Jamie O’s infamous Wedge board transfer went down. And places up and down the West Coast that maybe never even break lit up like a fireworks show on the 4th of July.
Meanwhile, if you’re feeling jealous of those of us who got to enjoy that perfect day, don’t worry. Apparently the West Coast isn’t getting rationed out waves in August anymore. We used them all up in a single day last year.
