North London is set to get its first wave pool after council approval cleared the way for construction in Lee Valley Park. The plan will now go to the Mayor’s office for final sign-off. Work is scheduled to begin in 2026, with doors opening to the public in 2027.
The facility will use Endless Surf technology, already in operation at O2 Surftown MUC in Munich, Germany. Developers say the London iteration will be larger, offering longer rides and more capacity. They chose the technology because the “site in London has some unique challenges which…can be overcome by Endless Surf’s design.”
The project is led by Crest Experiences, which will transform a former golf course and camping park into a 54-acre surf zone. Alongside the wave pool, plans include green space, skate areas, playparks, and health and wellbeing facilities.
Crest CEO Hazel Geary said the development will create up to 200 jobs, with discounts for local residents and free viewing for spectators.
Geary previously served as CEO of The Wave Group Ltd, the operator of The Wave Bristol, a Wavegarden-powered surf park about 120 miles west of London. The project changed ownership and leadership in June, after which The Wave Group rebranded as Crest Experiences. The company says it is already scouting additional sites for future pools.
