The Inertia

Getting barreled is the end-all-be-all of surfing. It’s the light at the end of the tunnel, the cherry on top of an already perfect cake, the cream in your coffee, the cool side of the pillow. But it’s hard. The difficulty, though, is what makes it so good — many surfers will go a lifetime without getting a true standup barrel. Most, we’d wager. Good barrels come with shallow reef, which, to put it bluntly, suck to fall on top of. But you’re a tube hound on Lombok, you’re in the right place.

“This remote left hander is normally targeted by tube junkies on solid swells, but it was only shoulder high during this session,” wrote Surfers of Bali. “Even so, there were some sets that peeled far along the reef with multiple barrel sections with a stiff offshore holding it nice and open.”

We’re looking into tickets to Lombok.
