Could Surf Solo 2.0 forever solve drop-ins? Photo: Raglan Surf Report//YouTube

The Inertia

Whether it’s Uluwatu, Malibu, or Snapper Rocks, getting a wave to yourself at the world’s most renowned surf spots can be next to impossible if you aren’t a local pro. Even Kelly Slater isn’t immune.

Luke Cederman thinks he’s found an innovative solution.

New Zealand’s best surfing comedian launched a video introducing the “Surf Solo 2.0.” Instead of having to drop some f-bombs to get someone off your wave, Cederman says a simple airhorn can clear your path.

“Ever since I was a little kid, I’d always dreamed of surfing a wave at Raglan to myself. And now with the Surf Solo 2.0, my childhood dream has become a reality,” Cederman said.

“The Surf Solo 2.0 allows you to gently notify other surfers that you’re already riding a wave without using naughty swear words or damaging your larynx with loud, violent gut-roll screams,” he added.

Cederman, who has built a mini media empire of more than 150,000 followers across his social media accounts for the Raglan Surf Report, enjoys poking fun at the contradictions and irony of surf culture.

“The Surf Solo 2.0 uses cutting-edge technology derived from the automotive industry,” said Cederman. “Now I only need to soothe my larynx when it gets sore from telling everyone how f%&#ing hard I’ve been ripping.”

With the first-ever WSL Championship Tour event coming to Raglan — his local break on New Zealand’s North Island — let’s hope Cederman gets a wildcard into the event and brings some comedic relief to the tour.
