The Inertia

Mark Occhilupo is a living legend. He’s an icon. He’s been a staple of surfing for decades, and it doesn’t look as though that’s going to change any time soon. He’s got a very defined style, although he’s said in the past that “the best style to me is no style at all.” He’s got a working man’s surf mentality. No wasted movements, and all movements full of power.

At 5’9” and around 200 pounds, Occy is a powerful surfer with a low center of gravity. In the video you see here, he’s using that power at firing Mundaka at the end of his Billabong Europe tour. He’s riding his favorite board, the Raging Bull, which is named after him of course. And although we sure do like to see Occy’s backhand, his forehand is a hell of a thing to witness, too.
