Mason Ho surfs a lot. He probably surfs about as much as you want to surf, but that’s not only because it’s his job. It’s also because Mason Ho is comfortable surfing waves that other people wouldn’t even consider surfing. Like this wave at Mermaid Rock on Oahu’s North Shore.
It is not a wave for someone with soft skin. While the wave itself isn’t particularly treacherous, where it breaks sure is. But for Mason, consequences don’t seem to have much bearing on whether he paddled out or not. What does have a bearing is how much fun he thinks he can have… and Mason can make a whole lot of fun where there doesn’t appear to be much.
