Mason can make any board look like it works, but this one WORKS. Photos: YouTube//Screenshot
Mason Ho isn’t a surfer who only rides a certain type of surfboard. He’s a surfer who rides boards that do two things: work well in a given situation, and give Mason a certain type of feeling. He’s on big boards and small boards, riding big waves and small waves and everything in between. It’s hard to say what style of surfboard works best for him, but it’s safe to say that the surfboard Ryan Burch made for him is up there at the top.
Last year, Ho and Burch ran into each other at Uluwatu Surf Villas. As you would expect when those two meet up, the conversation turned to surfboards.
“Eventually Ryan ended up making Mason a surfboard that is shaped very different compared to Mason’s normal boards,” the video’s description reads. “When the board made it all the way to Hawaii the goal was to try it in small and big surf at preferably all the iconic North Shore spots and see how it feels.”
If we’re judging by this footage, it felt really, really good.
