Matt Bromley Edging Out Fear

That fear you feel in your gut? It’s weirdly close to excitement, and you can make it switch. Photo: YouTube

The Inertia

There’s an old saying that goes like this: “He who can does; he who cannot, teaches.” It’s often true, but it’s not ideal for the learner. What is ideal is to have a teacher who does, and Matt Bromley is a doer. He’s currently in the middle of creating a handful of tutorials for his YouTube channel, and if you’re a person who wants to get better at doing something that frightens you, he’s the instructor you’ve been looking for.

The series, entitled “Edging Out Fear,” has had two previous installments. The first explained his method for getting acclimatized to fear. The second emphasized the importance of training and trusting your equipment. The third, which you can watch below, details how he is able to transform fear into excitement.

“In this episode, I focus on mindset and the two tools that help me to welcome the challenge coming my way,” he writes. “To focus on the opportunity in the storm.”
