While thousands of Memorial Day beachgoers were kept out of the water in Newport Beach on Monday due to a shark attack that occurred the day before, Malibu’s Surfrider, by no surprise, was in full swing. As a result of one of the first decent south swells we’ve seen in months, this wonderful wave began to awake from her deep slumber and the people arrived by the hundreds. As usual, no wave went unridden. In fact, everyone made sure of that by jamming three or four (or more) people on each wave. But all in all, it was a great day to get out and be reminded of our freedom to surf. That is, thanks to our veterans. Here’s a recap of the party that ensued.
