The Inertia

It’s hard to be a surfer with a truly distinctive style these days. Mikey February is among those who rides a surfboard in a truly unique way. The kind of surfer that makes you stop and watch. Recently, he was in Hawaii because it is Hawaii and surfers like Hawaii.

While he was in Hawaii, he chose to ride a board that you might not see too often in Hawaii during winter on the North Shore: a Channel Islands Twin Pin. It makes sense that he would choose that particular surfboard, because he had a big hand in its design.

It’s one of those surfboards that is built to be an all-arounder. Decent in smaller surf and decent when it’s double-overhead. Mikey, who normally rides a 6’0″ shortboard, rides his twin pins a little shorter to account for the volume. And as an added bonus to the short film you see here, Mason and Michael Ho were paddling around, too.
