A few days ago, a friend of mine sent me a photo. It was taken from a cliff looking over an ocean full of meaty looking waves rolling towards a point break. A spattering of camels stood on the left, and, although the waves were far away, you could just tell they were big. That friend was in Morocco at the time, at some unknown wave. There are a lot of unknown waves along that coastline, but the ones around Taghazout are relatively on the radar.
On the morning of December 12, with a west swell at 15 seconds in the water, a dropping tide, and just the faintest breath of a wind, the point breaks in the area were absolutely on fire. As the day went on, the waves at Anchor Point grew in size, but the wind picked up a little. All in all, though, it was likely a day no one’s going to forget.
