When you see surfers who aren’t on the Championship Tour heading to places where the CT is, you know that the stars have aligned. Take, for example, John John and Nathan Florence. John spends much of his time heading from contest to contest, hoping against hope that the waves will meet him there. Sometimes they do and sometimes they don’t. But Nate? Nate just goes where the waves are going to be, contests be damned. So when Nathan had a look at the forecast for Western Australia and decided (at the last minute, of course) to pull the trigger on a ticket, it was a good omen for tour surfers.
