Pipeline set

The Inertia

Unless you live under a rock, you likely know that the Pipeline was good in February, to say the least. For over two weeks, the North Shore was pumping harder than it has pumped in quite some time. And when the 7-Mile Miracle pumps, it really pumps.

In this short clip from Off Da Wall, a YouTube channel dedicated to showing some of the best footage from Hawaii, the viewer sees a full set from one of the better days in that two-week period at Pipeline. Second and first reef are both involved, as well as a spread out crowd of surfers all hoping for the best waves of their life.

It’s more common these days to see a single wave or even a single maneuver, but surfing is far more than that. It’s dealing with the ocean and its many moods; the little changes that happen every hour, minute and second. This plan-séquence is a good example of it, and it’s a way of filming that we don’t see enough.
