The Inertia

Sean Davey, at home in the office and the first photo on the road to a long career.

As one of the most naturally beautiful areas on earth, Tasmania has produced more than its fair share of nature-inspired photographers. Sean Davey is no exception. In fact, it is the very nature of surfing that inspired Sean to do so well in the highly competitive surf market. It all started back one late October afternoon in 1977 when he picked up a camera and captured a simple wave breaking at his home beach. Since then, he has flourished, producing a consistently high level of images, which have appeared worldwide in magazines for the past two decades, resulting in more than 140 magazine covers. It’s the fleeting moments of nature that inspire him to take his best images. A

wave was the first thing he ever photographed, and since then, his interest in waves has remained. These are some of his current favorites, presented here in Triptych form. Sean prints both paper and canvas enlargements of his imagery for those interested.
