You may remember Robbie Maddison as the guy who rode a dirt bike at Teahupoo. Or the guy who rode his dirt bike at Todos. Or the guy who everyone hated for riding his dirt bike at Teahupoo and Todos. Or maybe you remember him as the guy who Gary Linden sorta-kinda chased away from Todos. Well, he’s at it again, only this time, he did it at Cloudbreak. And guess what? He almost ran over a guy named Casey Kalinyak!
While we, as surfers, may not always agree on what the proper way to ride a wave is, surely we can agree that it is not on a dirt bike. Yeah, that guy on a SUP sweeping his 10′ boat over the heads of all those inferior suckers who have to lie down to move a surfboard might be dangerous. And yeah, that guy on the hydrofoil slicing the faces off anyone in his way might be a bit of a hazard. But Robbie Maddison on a dirt bike in a crowded lineup is just… wrong. So hey Robbie, if you’re reading this: dude, go back to the valley.
