Ruben Vitoria is another name coming from the Basque surf scene’s powerhouse of Zarautz. At 19-years old, Ruben was born in 1999, barely squeaking into the world before the start of a new millennium.
Today, he’s a competitor who faced a combo situation in his first ever WQS Final, putting together a 19.10 for a win in the WSL Tenerife Pro earlier this year. It was a feat he managed against Jorgann Couzinet, a QS surfer who missed the 2018 World Tour by just one position. With the money made during the first leg of the QS Tour, Ruben put together a budget that will keep him on the grind through the end of the year, all without sponsor stickers on his board.
