The Inertia

Scotland might not be the first place you think of when you think about going on a surf trip. That’s because the water is cold and the weather is often inclement. But, if you ask those who love surfing in places where the water is cold and the weather is often inclement, that’s part of the allure. Warm water all year around? Swaying palms and white sand beaches? That might get boring to some people. Not all, mind you — certainly not me — but some. And last week, Scotland’s north coast had a run of swell that coincided with unseasonably nice weather.

“The waves were close to perfection last week up on Scotland’s North coast,” wrote GlobalZoo. “This particular break definitely bears resemblance to some of its tropical cousins – they don’t call it the ‘Cold Water Nias’ for nothing.”
