Of all the skimboarding events, one stands out: El Rey de Lovers. Lover’s Beach is a stunningly beautiful part of Cabo with some of the best skimboarding on the planet.
The shorebreak is “notorious for being very dangerous, especially to beach goers who do not understand the power of the ocean,” reads the caption on Blair Conklin’s Skid Kids YouTube page, where you can find this short film (below) about day one of the event.
“The contest is hosted by local skimboarder Juan Carlos Nazario, A.K.A. Bullo,” the caption explained. “Given the incredible wave conditions throughout the entire event, this is easily the best skimboarding contest we have had on the tour in many years.”
