The Inertia

When the charts turned purple last week, every big wave surfer started making plans. For most of them, Western Australia was looking like the place to be. Mark Mathews, Mick Corbett, Chris Ross, and a handful of other brave souls set their sights on The Right, one of WA’s most infamous slabs.

The crew over at PanBot, a company that makes immersive 360 degree videos, joined them, hoping to film a 360 degree shot of what it’s like inside one of the world’s sketchiest slabs… but because its so sketchy, they lost all six cameras on the first wave. The mount snapped, and down they went. Luckily, though, the behind-the-scenes crew was still able to capture the insanity that went down. And there was a lot of it.
