The Nazaré big wave season started off with a bang this year. Two massive back-to-back swells pulsed towards the notorious wave. While the excitement for the first was high, the hype for the second was through the roof. Garrett McNamara claimed it was going to be the “biggest and best conditions we have ever seen in the history of surfing!!!” It was one of the biggest swells in five years. And while it didn’t (couldn’t) live up to the hype, it lead to an all-time swell full of all-time rides. That, coupled with the previous swell, made autumn in Portugal one that won’t soon be forgotten.
