The Inertia

The thirteen-day waiting period for the 2015 Fiji Pro commences on June 7th and runs thru June 19th. The iconic lefthand reef breaks of Cloudbreak and Restaurants will challenge this year’s competing field to push the boundaries of innovative surfing to the next level for those looking to climb the rankings. In terms of swell, current forecast models for the Fiji Pro hint at a very slow start, with the first six days of the waiting period likely to be lay days. However, a solid swell is forecasted to fill in for days 7 and 8 of the event, but then drops down to a moderate level at best for the remainder of the event.

Defending event champion, Gabriel Medina, currently seated at an uncharacteristic 19th on the WCT, needs a strong finish at the Fiji Pro to reset the trend of his 2015 season to a positive direction. Kelly Slater, current world No. 13, will be in search of the trademark consistency that has been one of the key attributes to his legendary career during his upcoming fortnight on the heart shaped island of Tavarua.
