The Nissan Super Girl Pro, the world’s largest all-female surf contest featuring over 80 professional female athletes, is returning to the Oceanside Pier for its 15th annual run today through this Sunday September 19. The event, available to view below on YouTube (September 18-19), is also free to the public, so if you’re in the area be sure to make it down there for great food, entertainment, and, of course, surfing. Check out the full event schedule here.

“We’re thrilled to bring the Nissan Super Girl Pro back to Oceanside this year with a full-scale festival and surf contest that’s open to the public,” said Rick Bratman, CEO of ASA Entertainment, the event’s producer. “This event has not only been a showcase for the top-ranked surfers in the world, but it’s also served as a springboard to help launch surf careers and provide unmatched mentorship between pros and newcomers. Being one of the first events in the U.S. after the Olympics and featuring both of the USA Surf Team members is a thrill.”

Last year’s winners – Team USA consisting of Sage Erickson and Tia Blanco of Ultimate Surfer fame, as well as Lakey Peterson and supergrom Caity Simmers who took home the individual honors, will be returning to defend their titles, and are joined by recently-crowned 2021 WSL Champion and Olympic Gold Medalist Carissa Moore, fellow Olympians Caroline Marks and Tatiana Weston-Webb, legendary surfer Bethany Hamilton, and other pro surfers such as Brianna Cope and Coco Ho.

Although the event began as a surf contest in 2007, it has evolved to become a lot more than that. Contest-wise, it has grown to include an adaptive surf contest and longboarding competition, the Super Girl Gamer Pro esports tournament, and an all-female DJ competition. This weekend will also see 16 live performances from artists like Plain White Tees, Maggie Lindemann and Hot Chelle Rae, as well as free fitness, wellness, and self-defense classes, a celebrity speaker series, and a mentorship event for young surfers with five-time World Champion Carissa Moore and her Moore Aloha Foundation.

The event is focused on celebrating women, but any and all genders are of course welcome, so get on down there for some weekend fun and to show your support for a great cause. If you can’t make it down to the Oceanside Pier, be sure to tune in below and at Supergirlpro.com. The event will also be coming to Jacksonville, Florida, November 12-14, so mark your calendars, East Coasters.
