Surfing is a funny thing. There are these rules that aren’t exactly written in stone. Most sports have a rule book; there are things that you simply can and cannot do. Even driving, for example. There are rules of the road. They are understood and (usually) obeyed by everyone. You don’t swerve blindly into someone else’s lane, because you will smash into them and it will suck for everyone involved. In surfing, there are those rules, but they get a little foggy at times. People routinely blindly swerve into someone else’s wave. They smash into them, and it sucks for everyone involved.
