The Inertia

Meg Roh says it just randomly started because she wanted to get better one summer. The goal was to surf every day in the summer between 6th and 7th grade, but by the time those three months ended, she figured it wouldn’t hurt to extend the streak to an even hundred.

We’ve all been there before right? “Ok, one more wave and then I’m outta here.” And as luck would have it either zero waves roll through your general vicinity or all of the sudden you start catching them like a mad man. Either way, you refuse to go in, and two hours later you’re still on “last wave status.” That pretty much sums up Meg Roh’s streak, because every year she gets older and another story pops up about her extending that streak to another digit she feels good about stopping at. Until she decides to extend it one more day, then another hundred, so on and so forth. This has been going on for four years now. Well, this time Roh says her streak is coming to an end, with day number 1,500 coming sometime this July. I’m not buying it. Nonetheless, her passion and commitment has landed her a spot in The Search For Freedoma film about living in the moment, shown through the eyes of action sports athletes.

Meg is rad.
