Zeke Lau is right on the edge of requalifying for the Championship Tour. Again. A talented surfer from Honolulu, Lau first qualified for the CT in 2017. He did it again in 2018 and 2019. After that, it was a few more years until Lau was back on tour.

In 2022, Lau won ABC’s The Ultimate Surfer, defeating fellow Hawaiian Koa Smith. With the win, Lau was awarded $100,000 and three wildcard spots on the 2022 Championship Tour. Ultimately, Lau didn’t wind up needing the wildcards because he earned his spot via the Challenger Series.

Although Lau put up some strong performances, his best showing was a fifth at the Hurley Pro Sunset Beach. He fell just short of making the mid-season cut and found himself back on the CS, vying for a spot on the 2023 CT.

Heading into Haleiwa, the final stop of the CS, Lau is sitting in ninth place. Will he be able to secure the points he needs to requalify for the dream tour? He’s no stranger to the wave at Haleiwa, so things look promising for the 28-year-old.
