The Inertia

If you surf in Southern California, you know there are sharks around. In the summer months especially, juvenile great white sharks abound. They’re not much of a threat, if a threat at all, and they’re just kind of figuring out how to keep themselves alive as they leave the nearby nurseries. Carlos Gauna, a man who loves to film great whites, had a busy month.

The video you see here is a wrap-up of some of the better footage he captured from his drone, and he saw a pile of interesting things.

“In this episode of my Monthly Wrap Up, I’m sharing the other incredible moments you may have missed, along with rare aerial and underwater perspectives that show just how close these sharks can be,” he wrote. “From a massive great white shark cruising near the Santa Monica Pier to close encounters with paddleboarders, kayakers, and even yachts — July’s shark season did not disappoint.”
