The Inertia

About a year ago, Poopies, newly-added to the Jackass team, came very close to dying in a stunt for Discovery‘s Shark Week. The footage was terrifying. And now, again for Shark Week, he’s decided to face his fears by diving with them.

The attack left him with two severed arteries and two severed tendons in his hand. According to reports, two of his fingers are stuck erect, and he’s generally seen these days with a brace on his wrist and hand. He’s had multiple surgeries and attends physical therapy in an effort to get his hand back to 100 percent.

“I thought I was gonna die in front of my friends,” Poopies said. “Um, that’s pretty heavy.”

Hopefully now that he’s been around sharks in a situation that doesn’t end with his hand dangling from his wrist, he’ll feel a little better about being in the ocean. “Holy moly, I did it,” exclaimed McInerney, as he surfaced from his dive. “You definitely have to have respect for those sharks. I feel a lot better, I don’t have fear of dying when I’m next to sharks anymore… now I can go surf and water ski big waves!”
